    Police have launched a homicide investigation after a person shot in central Auckland died in hospital


    A person fired up to four shots on Lower Queen Street on Thursday night - critically injuring two men.

    Detective Senior Sergeant Craig Bolton says one of the men was taken off life support in Auckland City Hospital and succumbed to his injuries with family beside him.

    He says the CCTV phase of the investigation is continuing and anyone with information should come forward.

    The second man is in hospital in a stable condition.
