National's hinting its about to announce a policy restricting mobile phone use in schools

Speaking to media from a Hamilton school, Leader Chris Luxon was asked if he'd consider a standardised approach to avoid distractions.

He says they're focused on lifting academic achievement in New Zealand, and teachers have talked about teachers the impact of phones in classroom.

He says principals and parents are also telling him phones are a distraction, so they will have more to say on this very shortly.
