    It took until the final round - but Southland have a win in the 2023 season of rugby's NPC


    The Stags have saved their best for last - powering to a 37-12 away victory against Manawatu in Palmerston North.

    The win - though - couldn't prevent Southland from claiming the wooden spoon - three points behind Manawatu.

    Earlier - Bay of Plenty clinched a home quarterfinal with 41-12 thumping of Tasman in Tauranga - while Otago were 38-22 victors over fellow non-playoff contenders Counties Manukau 38-22 in Dunedin.
