The number of Kiwi vegans has fallen

The number of Kiwi vegans has fallen

Research shows households now spend an average 238-dollars a week on food, and 21 percent spend more than 300 a week.

It also showed those identifying as vegan dropped to three percent -- from five percent last year.

Rabobank researcher, Blake Holgate, says it could have multiple reasons.

He says that buzz over meat alternatives may have gone slightly, but there's also increased awareness of red meat benefits, and the cost of eating vegan may be another factor.
