Little surprise that Auckland is among the top three most expensive cities in the world to rent in

According to global realtor and research firm Knight Frank, the price for prime property has risen six percent in the six months to September.

It says the city's now second, only to Sydney and Singapore.

Aspire Property Management Managing Director Mike Atkinson says any increase for landlords is passed to the tenant.

He says we have very high interest rates and policies of a previous government that put a lot of costs on landlords, even when they were told it would raise rents.
