Thousands from across New Zealand and the world are gearing up to take part in the Queenstown Marathon

Thousands from across New Zealand and the world are gearing up to take part in the Queenstown Marathon

Racing kicks off with the 10 kilometre dash at 7.45am -- with the full marathon at 8.20am.

The event is expected to inject around 20 million dollars into the regional economy over the next week.

Queenstown Marathon Race Director, Keegan McCauley says it'll be a well needed tourism boost for the southern lakes region, who suffered majorly during the pandemic.

He's reminding race-goers of the boil water notice in place for Queenstown's town centre, Fernhill and Sunshine Bay following the regions cryptosporidium outbreak in September.
