A team of scientists are preparing to set sail this weekend to learn more about our most active earthquake fault

A team of scientists are preparing to set sail this weekend to learn more about our most active earthquake fault

Scientists from the Earthquake Commission, Victoria University, and NIWA will deploy seismic sensors to the ocean floor off the coast of Wairarapa.

Geophysics professor Martha Savage will be on the boat and says she's excited to gather more information about the Hikurangi Subduction Zone.

She says a better understanding of the fault will make us better prepared for when an earthquake strikes.
