Chaos at a Santa parade in Auckland's Avondale

A purple Burger Fuel muscle car, has plowed into a Polynesian brass band.

A number of Police are on the scene, and ambulance staff can be seen tending to someone on the ground.

Photos seen by our newsroom, show the male driver of the car being spoken to.

Herald sport reporter Michael Burgess, who was at the parade with his baby, says he heard shrieks and screams when the incident unfolded.

He says a number of people in the band jumped on top of the car, and tried to attack the driver, because no one could believe what had happened.
