The Crown admits perjured evidence should not have been heard at David Tamihere's 1990 trial

The Crown admits perjured evidence should not have been heard at David Tamihere's 1990 trial

Tamihere was found guilty of murdering two Swedish tourists -- convictions he's now fighting.

The Court of Appeal will come back with a decision next year.

The Crown says evidence of a now perjured jailhouse confession shouldn't have been used -- but, this doesn't mean his convictions should be quashed.

Open Justice reporter Ethan Griffiths says the Crown's Rebecca Thomson argues that confession was not seen as a fundamental part of the case against him.
