An Auckland councillor says the Council's done too much spending, and not enough selling

An Auckland councillor says the Council's done too much spending, and not enough selling

Mayor Wayne Brown is putting forward two options for the Port of Auckland in his proposed 10-year budget, which also includes a possible rates rise of 7.5 percent.

He suggests either keeping the business and gradually releasing land for public use, or selling the operating lease to raise up to three-billion-dollars.

Councillor Wayne Walker says they haven't been getting the money to fund the cost of growth.

He says Auckland developments cost a lot in infrastructure and over time they haven't had the money they should have.
