    Court today for a man charged with unlawful possession of a firearm, after an eight-hour standoff with police in Christchurch's Avonhead


    Neighbours of the Beatrice Place property, where it's believed the the man was holed up with a gun, had to evacuate while police negotiated with him.

    Police confirm things were resolved without injury about 11pm.
