Police now believe a suspicious Palmerston North fire last month was started by two people throwing items through the business's window.

They say the pair pulled up in a Toyota Echo with covered plates at the Matipo Lane company on November 30, and smashed the glass.

CCTV footage shows people throwing a lit item inside - then what's thought to be an accelerant, followed by a large bottle.

No one was hurt, but the building was badly damaged.

Police are asking the public to help them find those responsible.
