More than half of farmers are now positive about the prospects for the agricultural economy - Rabobank's quarterly Rural Confidence survey found.
It is a strong rebound following a historical low in the last survey.
Senior agriculture analyst Emma Higgins says the survey period closed just after Fonterra lifted their Farmgate milk price forecast.
She says there is a strong likelihood that dairy farmer confidence would be even higher today.
