Gary Lawson has claimed a record-extending 16th national bowls title

Gary Lawson has claimed a record-extending 16th national bowls title

Lawson has won the national men's pairs title with Tony Grantham with a 16-13 win over Hamish and Ethan Kelleher in the final in Christchurch.

He says it's incredibly special to defend their title most of all.

Earlier, Papakura's Leanne Poulson won the women's singles title.

She's beaten 2012 singles champ Sandra Keith 21-12 in the final.
