Wellington Mayor Tory Whanau has responded to Local Government Minister Simeon Brown, outlining the work council is doing to fix water issues in the city

Wellington Mayor Tory Whanau has responded to Local Government Minister Simeon Brown, outlining the work council is doing to fix water issues in the city

Brown wrote a letter requesting information, but said two mayors, Whanau and Upper Hutt Mayor Wayne Guppy, failed to get back to him.

Whanau says that was because of a misunderstanding around what was being requested.

She says she's requested a meeting with Brown, and is taking the situation seriously.

She says council has provided Wellington Water, with 25 million dollars in extra funding and two million just before Christmas to fix leaks.
