State Highway 7, the Lewis Pass Road, is blocked, except for smaller vehicles that can drive on grass beside the road

This is because of a truck crash earlier this evening.

A truck and trailer unit overturned between Rogers Crescent and Hanmer Springs Rd, and police were alerted about 7.15.

The driver received minor-to-moderate injuries, but the highway will be closed for some time while the crash is cleared.

Emergency services are letting small vehicles on to a single lane through the grass, but there will be significant delays.
