Police attrition rates are expected to rise in the next decade as officers age

The Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment has told Police Minister Mark Mitchell many constabulary employees are over 55.
It also found current recruitment of 400 to 500 people a year is broadly sufficient to replace current attrition.
But it says without other interventions that won't give the growth the Government's looking for.
