ANZ has defended its systems as robust, and says it takes scams seriously - after it missed a scam warning from the Banking Ombudsman

An email, warning of the rise in fake term deposit schemes, was sent last March -- but got caught in ANZ's spam filter.
Consumer NZ has criticised the bank.
An ANZ spokesperson says they have a fraud monitoring system and a team of more than 100 people, to identify suspicious activity on customer accounts -- and they stop many regularly.
ANZ was aware of the scam, but says being generally aware of a particular type of scam, doesn't mean the bank is aware of a specific customer being defrauded.
