An independent investigation has found Christ's College badly handled allegations relating to a teacher's inappropriate relationship with a student at another Christchurch school

An independent investigation has found Christ's College badly handled allegations relating to a teacher's inappropriate relationship with a student at another Christchurch school

Taurapa -- formerly known as Connor Taurapa Matthews - was a live-in tutor at the boys' school in 2018.

At the same time, he was employed at Rangi Ruru Girls' School, where he was found to have engaged in a relationship with a Year 12 student.

A report by barrister Janna McGuigan found Christ's College should have conducted its own investigation and considered standing Taurapa down.

She also found Christ's College did not comply with health and safety obligations in respect of two staff who complained about Taurapa, leaving them in an unacceptable and vulnerable situation whilst Taurapa remained on campus.
