New Zealand's Olympic rowing hopefuls are heading into the national championships starting today on Lake Karapiro with one eye on the long-term goals

Tokyo eights gold medallist Phillip Wilson wears his Petone club colours at the nationals before turning his attention back to the national programme.

Wilson - who'll race the pair at the Olympics barring a major change - says they've been training full throttle and will continue to do so.

Wilson's also competing in the double and the eight in Cambridge.
