Swimmer Lewis Clareburt is hoping for an easier route to Paris -- with no world record holder Leon Marchand in Doha for the World Aquatics Championships

Swimmer Lewis Clareburt is hoping for an easier route to Paris -- with no world record holder Leon Marchand in Doha for the World Aquatics Championships

The Frenchman has already qualified for the Olympics and will sit out of defending his 400 metre individual medley crown.

Clareburt says it would've been great to race against Marchand, but his absence presents an opportunity.

Clareburt's campaign gets underway tonight with the 200 metre butterfly.
