A man's been charged over a bomb threat left on an answer machine of Ashburton College

A man's been charged over a bomb threat left on an answer machine of Ashburton College

Police were called to the school on Walnut Avenue around 8.30 this morning, after staff found a concerning message.

Senior Sergeant Janine Bowden says a 22-year-old was arrested at a home address soon after.

He's facing two charges - one of misuse of a telephone and another for false allegation of offence, in relation to the wasteful deployment of Police resources.

He's due to appear in the Ashburton District Court.
