Star batter Daryl Mitchell is set to be fit for the two-test series against Australia starting in Wellington on Leap Day

The right-hander - who averages a healthy 53 in tests - is overcoming a foot injury and has been named in New Zealand's 14-strong squad.

Will O'Rourke has been retained after his outstanding debut against South Africa...and it will be a landmark series for skipper Tim Southee and Kane Williamson, who are set to earn their 100th caps in the second Test in Christchurch.

Scott Kuggeleijn has replaced the injured Kyle Jamieson, with Trent Boult overlooked due to a lack of red ball cricket.
