New Zealand captain Tim Southee and Kane Williamson are set to earn their 100th tests caps after being named for the upcoming tests against Australia

New Zealand captain Tim Southee and Kane Williamson are set to earn their 100th tests caps after being named for the upcoming tests against Australia

Both will bring up the milestone in the second showdown in Christchurch, with Southee becoming only the fourth player in history to bring up 100 matches in cricket's three different formats.

Scott Kuggeleijn replaces the injured Kyle Jamieson in the 14-strong squad, while Daryl Mitchell has been named after being rested to allow a foot injury to heal.

Australian coach Andrew McDonald is eager to succeed on this side of the Tasman to close the gap on New Zealand at the top of the ICC test championship standings.
