The new Auckland University study asked 600 people to rank what they wanted to know about the covid-19 vaccine.
The risk of severe side effects was viewed as the most important factor, alongside the vaccine's effectiveness.
It found those more convinced by conspiracies, placed more importance in the vaccine's development time and number of doses given - while those more sceptical were more interested in how effective the vaccine was.
The researchers say it shows what information health professionals need to be promoting.
