Wellington's Mayor is adamant the Reading Cinema deal will make a positive mark on the city centre

Wellington's Mayor is adamant the Reading Cinema deal will make a positive mark on the city centre

Our newsroom understands Wellington City Council is this week going to discuss purchasing the land the Courtenay Place cinema sits on, for a multi-million dollar price tag.

It's understood the site would then be fixed up and sold back to its owners.

Wellington Mayor Tory Whanau says in ten years time, people will thank them.

She says it's become an undesirable place, and they have to invest in Reading Cinema to bring businesses back.
