Chris Bishop's dubbed the country's housing crisis a "moral issue" that's driving people to Australia

The Housing Minister has been speaking to the Wellington Chamber of Commerce on the measures Cabinet is taking, which he argues will make housing more affordable.

Bishop says the cost of emergency support caused by the housing crisis is akin to 15 Transmission Gully motorways every four years.

The Government's looking into the biggest changes to the GST system in decades, sharing a portion of revenue with councils.

And Bishop has revealed he'd have the final say on Wellington's district plan changes, where the council and independent hearings panel don't agree.
