Family and friends have joined Police and LandSAR in the search for a 72-year-old man missing in the Tararua Forest Park since early Monday

Efforts have focused on the Waiopehu Hut area -- with the RNZAF providing assistance with NH90 helicopter support and accommodation at Base Ohakea.

Trained LandSAR trackers and search dogs are also involved.

Police would like to hear from anyone who was in the area between Waiopehu and Gable End Ridge from 5am Monday to that afternoon on February 26.
