A couple who were convicted for making changes to wetlands on their property have had most their charges overturned

A couple who were convicted for making changes to wetlands on their property have had most their charges overturned

Greater Wellington Regional Council sought legal action against the Kapiti Coast couple, which saw one of them jailed for three months.

But the situation was elevated to the Court of Appeal, which overturned 29 of the charges, after the Council failed to prove the area met the criteria of a wetland.

A Council spokesperson told Newstalk ZB it's reviewing the decision, and will provide further submissions.
