Steve Gaydos, Variety's ex ecutive vice-president of global content and ex ecutive editor, said: "It's important to remember that before Molly Ringwald was the iconic young star of John Hughes' teen angst-driven comedies such as 'Sixteen Candles,' 'Pretty in Pink' and 'The Breakfast Club,' she first starred in Paul Mazursky's contemporary update of Shakespeare's 'Tempest'.
"This is important because the secret of Ringwald's early success and career longevity is the simple fact she has always been one of American film and television's most gifted and versatile actresses.
"Her dazzling work this year as Joanna Carson in the Ryan Murphy hit TV series 'Feud' is ample proof that Ringwald's range and acumen remain intact, and audiences can continue to expect new and wonderful surprises from one of their favourite stars."
Lauren Cohen, the director of programming at the Miami Film Festival, is also "thrilled to be honouring Molly Ringwald".
She added: "Her iconic career across film and television is one worth being admired, including my favourite 'The Breakfast Club'. We're honoured to celebrate the exceptional and long-lasting career of Molly Ringwald."
Molly first found fame as child, starring in the sitcoms 'Diff'rent Strokes' and 'The Facts of Life'.
And Molly previously admitted to being "flattered" by her own popularity.
The award-winning actress told the Guardian newspaper: "I'm honoured and flattered that I mean so much to people.
"It's a part of me, just like everybody's teen years are a part of them, but they don't live there every day, and I'm no different. Other than the fact that I'm sort of a cultural icon. Y'know, I guess not everybody can say that."
