Armed Police have left Hobson and Union Street in central Auckland - where a witness reported seeing a man with a firearm

Upwards of 30 specialist Police flocked to the site this morning, including the armed offenders squad.

But cordons have now lifted.

Witness, Wayne lives in a nearby building.

He says he was told to evacuate and stay away from the entrance.

He says it was only when he came outside he heard there was an argument and a gun.
