Police from Auckland and Waikato have had their hands full over Easter weekend breaking up a large street racing event spanning the two regions

The event kicked off on Saturday night, and continued into the early hours of Easter Sunday.

But Police say they were ready to disrupt dangerous driving, stationing themselves at multiple hot spots from the North Shore to Mangatawhiri, north-east of Pokeno.

Five people have been arrested, six vehicles have been impounded, and more than two hundred fines have been issued.

Waikato Highway Patrol has also issued a further 55 infringement notices and impounded another vehicle.
