To some sticks down, gloves off action in ice hockey's NHL..

The game between the New York Rangers and New Jersey Devils has erupted into a mass brawl the moment the puck dropped onto the ice at the famous Madison Square Garden.

All 10 players took part in the skates-on scrap - eight of the 10 then taking no further part after earning ejections.

The brawl is said to stem back to the last game between the two teams - when Rangers player Matt Rempe was ejected for elbowing and concussing Devils defender Jonas Siegenthaler .

While it's unclear who took honours in the fight - two goals in the third and final period gave the Rangers a 4-3 victory on the scoreboard.
