Home-buyers are urged to consider insurance costs before sealing the deal

Home-buyers are urged to consider insurance costs before sealing the deal

Actuarial consultancy Finity has monitored premiums across 2000 properties since September 2022 - providing the data to Treasury.

The gross average cheapest premium rose 22.5 percent from September 2022 to July 2023.

Insurance Brokers Association CEO Mel Gorham says home-buyers need to consider where the house is and potential natural hazard issues.

She says they should consider if it is insurable, considering what we know after last year's severe weather events.
