    The secondary teachers union says publishing attendance data won't improve attendance


    Associate Education Minister David Seymour's announced weekly attendance data, would be made public next term -- with daily mandatory reporting next year.

    It's also updating public health guidance to help schools and parents decide if a student is well enough to go to school -- and planning a traffic light system of interventions.

    PPTA president Chris Abercrombie says they're concerned publishing data will add an administrative task.

    He says it's slightly ironic that a minister who's about cutting red tape, is potentially adding red tape to schools.
