The secondary teachers union says publishing attendance data won't improve attendance

The secondary teachers union says publishing attendance data won't improve attendance

Associate Education Minister David Seymour's announced weekly attendance data, would be made public next term -- with daily mandatory reporting next year.

It's also updating public health guidance to help schools and parents decide if a student is well enough to go to school -- and planning a traffic light system of interventions.

PPTA president Chris Abercrombie says they're concerned publishing data will add an administrative task.

He says it's slightly ironic that a minister who's about cutting red tape, is potentially adding red tape to schools.
