Amy Poehler "can't wait" to celebrate 'Saturday Night Live's 50th anniversary

The 52-year-old star spent eight seasons on the late-night sketch comedy series, and she's now looking forward to attending the anniversary celebrations in 2025

Amy - who left the show in 2008 - told 'Entertainment Tonight': "I can't wait for the parties. I can't wait for the celebration. I can't believe that I'm part of that family."

The comedy star still has fond memories of the 'Saturday Night Live' parties from years gone by.

She shared: "It starts at 1am. I don't know how I did it. And then it's packed and it's crowded, but everybody ... it's kind of like after a game or something, everyone's tired. There are winners and losers and they can rage, at least when I was there.

    "I don't know what it's like now."

Amy joined 'Parks and Recreation' after leaving 'Saturday Night Live', and she recently claimed that the TV show suffered from being "mislabelled".

The actress - who played Leslie Knope on the hit TV series - believes the series struggled initially because it was mistakenly described as a spin-off of 'The Office'.

Amy told The Independent: "In the beginning we were fighting for survival.

"We had a really bad launch, in my opinion. We were kind of mislabelled when we first came out, as an 'Office' spin-off, which we were not."

Meanwhile, Amy revealed that her on-screen character had a positive impact on her real-life self.

The actress explained: "Playing Leslie expanded my life and she was definitely good for my mental and physical health. She was this engine who had to keep things going.

"I'm proud of the choices we made together about what she would and wouldn't do. She felt like a real human.

"Even now, I have so many people come up to me and say, 'She's the Leslie Knope,' and I'm like, 'What does that mean?' I think the 'Leslie Knope' is somebody who's fierce and determined, sticks up for her friends and what she believes in and is a little bit myopic at times."
