    Labour's leader says an international effort is needed to save news media

    Financial headwinds are forcing Newshub to close in July.

    Competitor TVNZ is scrapping its Midday and Tonight bulletins, and current affairs shows Fair Go and Sunday.

    The Government has been facing a barrage of questions about whether it will help safeguard the fourth estate.

    The Opposition's Chris Hipkins says Facebook and Google are creaming off news profits - and causing market failure.

    He says Labour has a Bill before the House in an attempt to fix this, but it may have limited success if other government's don't follow.
