Jessica Chastain's 'Interstellar' character has inspired lots of baby names

The 47-year-old actress played Murphy 'Murph' Cooper in the Christopher Nolan-directed sci-fi movie, and Jessica has met lots of parents who have named their children after the fictional character

The Hollywood star told PEOPLE: "I've had a lot of people just yell, 'Murph' at me. 'Murph'. I get a lot of that, and I'm like, 'Yes, physics.'"

Jessica explained that she's met many parents who have taken inspiration from the movie.

The actress said: "[There have] been a lot of couples who have told me they've named their children, their daughters Murph after 'Interstellar'. So I was like, 'Well, maybe this means it'll be a boon to science.'"

Jessica also hopes that her daughter, Guiletta, will develop a love of science one day.

The movie star - who welcomed Guiletta via a surrogate in 2018 - said: "I mean, that's all I'm wanting. I mean, a physicist, a theoretical physicist. My daughter, yes. Let's go!

"I wish when I was young I could see how glamorous science could be."

Jessica starred alongside Anne Hathaway - her long-time showbiz pal - in the 2014 sci-fi movie, and the Oscar-winning actress recently praised Christopher Nolan for rescuing her career.

Anne, 41, claimed that her identity had become "toxic" before she appeared in 'Interstellar'.

She told Vanity Fair: "A lot of people wouldn't give me roles because they were so concerned about how toxic my identity had become online.

"I had an angel in Christopher Nolan, who did not care about that and gave me one of the most beautiful roles I've had in one of the best films that I've been a part of."

Anne feels the director actually changed the course of her career.

She said: "I don't know if he knew that he was backing me at the time, but it had that effect. And my career did not lose momentum the way it could have if he hadn't backed me."
