Offenders sentenced under renewed Three Strike Laws will get a limited discount for confessing

The Government's bringing back legislation to mandate prison sentences for violent criminals who offend for a third time.
Labour binned the laws in 2022.
The new laws will only apply to sentences above 24-months and will give judges more discretion -- but also come with stricter parole rules.
Associate Justice Minister Nicole McKee says those who plead guilty on a third strike will be eligible for a 20 percent sentence reduction.
She says a guilty plea means the victim is not re-traumatised by having to relive the drama in a courtroom.
