Pete Doherty has got rid of his mobile phone

The 45-year-old rock star - who is best known for being co-frontman of The Libertines -has endured a string of problems with addiction throughout his career but since getting clean admitted he has also rid himself of his smart device.

He is quoted by The Sun newspaper's Bizarre column as saying: "Since I've got off the gear I haven't had a phone. I think me and my dad are the only people "I know that don't have one.

"My wife has one, so if it's an emergency, you can get hold of me. And I've got a landline."

But the 'Can't Stand Me Now' hitmaker - who tied the knot with Katia de Vida in 2021 - has ran into a fair few problems since ditching the tech, notably struggling to board a train recently without an e-ticket to hand.

He said: "I tried to take a train the other day, and they wouldn't let me on without a digital ticket; it's absolutely insane.

"They didn't believe me either when I said I didn't have one. She was just confused and then started getting suspicious. She was French."

Pete - who has son Astile, 20, with singer Lisa Moorish, Erin, 12, with Lindi Hingston and 10-month-old Billie-May with his current wife - ended up getting so frustrated in the situation that he "lost the plot" and shouted into mid-air but joked that he may start bringing the idea of a public meltdown back into fashion.

He said: "I really lost the plot. Made a right spectacle of myself. Shouting at the sky, shaking my fist. Which people don't do anymore. I might bring that back."
