Former All Blacks and Warriors doctor John Mayhew hopes the NRL applies common sense amid renewed calls to change or ban the kick-off after a spate of injuries

Australian sports doctor Nathan Gibbs says there's a high risk of injury from the kick off where players have 20 to 30 metres to get to full speed before crashing into each other.
Mayhew says while he doesn't disagree - he can't understand where you'd draw the line.
Parramatta co-captain Clint Gutherson has undergone knee surgery and will miss at least a month of NRL action, in a blow to the Eel's hopes of reinvigorating their faltering campaign.
