Hamilton Police are asking the public for help as they investigate a woman being badly beaten - allegedly with a hammer

Officers found the woman with serious head injuries at a Marire Ave address, in Frankton, about 6 last night.

Detective Sergeant Nicholas Stark says they're hunting an alleged offender, known to the woman.

Police want to hear from anyone who saw a distressed woman along Norton Road between 7 and 8 last night - who has information or dash-cam footage.
