All Blacks centre Reiko Ioane is out of next weekend's top of the table showdown between his Blues and the Hurricanes

All Blacks centre Reiko Ioane is out of next weekend's top of the table showdown between his Blues and the Hurricanes

Ioane was heavily concussed in the Blues 38-11 win over the Rebels in Melbourne and coach Vern Cotter has confirmed he'll have at least the week off.

Ioane's absence means we won't see a head-to-head battle with in-form Canes midfielder Billy Proctor, who was a stand-out in the Canes' 41-12 dismantling of the Waratahs in Wellington.

The midfielder was captain in the absence of Brad Shields and Jordie Barrett...and Hurricanes coach Clark Laidlaw believes Proctor is well in the hunt for an All Blacks jersey.

The Hurricanes remain one point clear of the Blues on top of the ladder.
