Serious concerns over the increasing rate of dog attacks on children

Serious concerns over the increasing rate of dog attacks on children

Auckland Council has launched a new campaign to drive down attacks, having already received 12 reports this year.

Further Accident Compensation Corporation data shows, they received almost 800 claims for children last year, with up to 14 needing hospital treatment from dog-related injuries.

Auckland Council animal management manager Elly Waitoa says that's just in Auckland alone.

She says they've seen a 28 percent increase in attacks on the previous year.
