    Eurovision's version of the red carpet event was as fabulously weird as you'd hope it to be

    The 2024 Eurovision Song Contest's opening ceremony was held in Sweden over the weekend, which gave us some theatrical red carpet moments.


    The 2024 Eurovision Song Contest's opening ceremony was held in Sweden over the weekend, which gave us some theatrical red-carpet moments. 

    However, because this is Eurovision we're talking about here, it was a bit different to your standard awards ceremony arrivals broadcast.

    Instead of having a red carpet, Eurovision has a turquoise carpet. 

    But whether the carpet is red, blue or — if you think back to the 2023 Oscars — "champagne" coloured, it's not about the ground covering. 

    It's about ground-breaking fashion moments.

    Here's what the stars were wearing at the ceremony in Malmö, presented without commentary because these looks don't need words: 

    There will be plenty more Eurovision coverage to come in the next few days, with the grand final being held on Sunday morning AEST.
