CCTV and GPS are to thank for swift arrests - after about 30-thousand dollars of property was stolen from a bus, near Dunedin

Three people have been arrested after the theft of a dozen wallets, bags and passports yesterday - at Shag Point.

Senior Sergeant Anthony Bond says a 26-year-old woman and two men aged 28 and 34, were arrested in Timaru just 40 minutes later.

Two suspects were IDed using the bus's security cameras, and tracked by the GPS tracking on their van, which they'd failed to return.

The trio are appearing in the District Court today.
