Emotional scenes early on in the trial of a skipper; who's in court over the fatal capsize of Enchanter in 2022

The charter boat was hired by a group for a big game fishing trip to the Three Kings Islands in the Far North.

It was knocked sideways and capsized by a freak wave during bad weather, killing five friends.

Skipper Lance Goodhew is charged with breaching his duties as a worker and exposing individuals to a risk of death or serious injury.

Open Justice Reporter Shannon Pitman says a deck hand recalled being in the water for more than four hours .. and holding one of the deceased in his arms for two hours trying to save him.
