Multiple concerns from the Corrections Association over the Government's funding announcement

Multiple concerns from the Corrections Association over the Government's funding announcement

It's pouring 1.9 billion dollars into Corrections for recruitment, prison beds and offender support.

President Floyd du Plessis says some of the ideas are positive to see - but there's a lack of detail around recruitment, pay and support for staff living in Waikeria.

He says Corrections hasn't had any clear communication or contact with the union - and blaming commercial sensitivities is a bit of an excuse.

du Plessis says the department should have reached out to the union at a higher level to clarify what it was thinking.
