The Horowhenua District mayor says the community's pretty disgusted by what went down at Saturday's street racing meet

The Horowhenua District mayor says the community's pretty disgusted by what went down at Saturday's street racing meet

More than 200 cars took part in the convoy between Levin and Otaki - throwing projectiles and acting violently towards Police trying to disperse them.

Six cars have been impounded and two people have been arrested - and Police are using CCTV to identify more offenders.

Mayor Bernie Wanden, says this sort of activity's been happening across the lower North Island over the past few months.

He says it's sad and unfortunate that the community has to suffer - when most of the people, he understands, are from out of town.
